For students who do not have an identified communication system and who do not respond to all parts of Tasks 1 and 2, the Test Examiner can stop testing and apply the Stopping Rule to that student’s assessment form. All applications of the Stopping Rule must be reviewed and approved by the System or School Test Coordinator.
To apply the Stopping Rule, do the following:
- Begin the assessment and administer the first two tasks to the student. Input “no response” for all task parts.
- Click the Apply Stopping Rule button.
- Read the pop-up and ensure the requirements are met. Click Apply Stopping Rule. This will close the assessment form.
- Notify your School Test Coordinator that the Stopping Rule has been applied.
For System and School Test Coordinators to review the applied Stopping Rule, do the following:
- Select the In Progress tab at the top of the status page and enter the student’s name in the search bar.
- Search for the form in the results grid, or select the form from the Select Form(s) dropdown menu.
- Locate the form where YES appears in the Stopped column.
- Click on the GTID.
- Click the Resume Assessment button.
- If the Stopping Rule requirements are met, enter your name in the Approver (First Name/Last Name) field and click Complete Assessment. This will close the assessment form.
- If the Stopping Rule requirements are not met, click Remove Stopping Rule.
- Click Remove Stopping Rule in the pop-up. This will close the assessment form. Direct the Test Examiner to resume testing.
