COS Update for COS – SDs on macOS 15

An Apple update requires sites using COS – SDs currently on macOS 15 to reinstall the COS – SD software in order to update the application identification information required by Apple.
Version 9 of the COS – SD software fixes this issue and is available to download from the DRC INSIGHT portal.

If you do not reinstall the COS – SD software on devices running macOS 15, the Service Device Maintenance Tool will no longer function and the COS – SD will not automatically update.

If you are on macOS 14 or below, your COS – SD will continue to work normally unless you updated to macOS 15 before installing version 9 of the COS – SD software.

For information on uninstalling the COS – SD software for devices on macOS 15, see
Uninstalling the COS – SD Software for Devices on macOS 15.

Windows Software Updates

Automatic updates were reinstated for Windows devices with version 15 of the DRC INSIGHT application.

To ensure that the DRC INSIGHT software automatically updates the Testing Devices, use the COS interface to select Enable Auto Update during the configuration process.

  • If the Auto Update feature is enabled, the software checks the version each time DRC INSIGHT is launched and provides the option to install any software updates. DRC strongly recommends that the Auto Update feature be enabled.
  • If the Auto Update feature is not enabled, the software checks the version each time DRC INSIGHT is launched.
    • When a tester attempts to log in to a test, the tester is notified that he or she does not have the latest version of the software and cannot continue.
    • Site personnel must either update the software manually by downloading the latest version from the DRC INSIGHT Portal and reinstalling it or change the COS Configuration setting to allow automatic updates and restart DRC INSIGHT (see COS Online Help). Update your software before testing begins to avoid delays.
