Remote Device Readiness Scan Help

Last updated: October 30, 2025

The following are brief explanations of the criteria used to perform Remote Device Readiness Scan on the testing device. For specific information and technical support, see the DRC INSIGHT Remote Testing System Requirements.

Device Readiness Check — This table shows the tests performed on your device,
what each test is checking, and the guidance if your device fails.
Readiness Item What is it looking at? If your device failed…
Browser This test checks to see whether your browser is one of the DRC supported browsers allowed for testing (Chrome or Safari). If your browser check failed, you are not using a supported browser and you should change your browser. Minimum browser requirements are defined here: Minimum Browser Requirements
Device Operating System This test reviews the operating system on your testing device to make sure it aligns with the DRC supported operating system requirements. If your device failed, it does not use one of those supported operating systems and you should use a different device. Review the system requirements linked above.
Device Type This test reviews the type of device you are using to make sure it is one of the DRC supported devices allowed for testing. If your device failed, it is not one of those supported devices and you should use a different device. Review the system requirements linked above.
Device Memory This test reviews the amount of memory — or RAM — installed on your testing device to make sure your device performs optimally and that you don’t experience performance issues while testing. If your device failed you should use a different device, install additional memory or uninstall any programs or applications you no longer use.
Device Processor This test reviews the type of processor your device is using to make sure it aligns with the DRC supported processor requirements. If your device failed, it does not meet the requirements and you should use a different device.
Connection Speed This test reviews your device’s connection speed to make sure it aligns with the DRC supported processor requirements. These requirements account for both the DRC INSIGHT needs and any web meeting needs that may be required during your assessment. If your device failed, try the following to improve your connection speed:

  • Limit the amount of other programs or applications that are running.
  • Make sure that the testing device and other devices sharing the same network are not currently streaming audio or video (e.g., Pandora, YouTube). That will conflict with the common network connection and bandwidth.
Network Access This test checks to see if you can connect to the DRC INSIGHT servers. If your device fails, try the following to enable your device to connect to the DRC INSIGHT servers:

  • Check to see if your device is using a personal firewall preventing your connection.
  • Contact your school’s technology support staff.
Device Power Supply This test verifies that the device has sufficient power to support the device throughout the testing duration. If the device fails, plug it into a power supply.
Screen Resolution This test checks to see if your device’s screen resolution meets the DRC supported requirements. If your device fails, it does not meet the screen resolution requirements and you should use a different device or an external monitor that meets the resolution requirements.
Camera Detected This test checks to see if a camera is available on your device. If your device fails:

  • Make sure your device has a camera built in or connected
  • If the camera is connected, make sure it is fully plugged in to your device
  • If the problem continues, refer to your device manufacturer’s troubleshooting guide for help.
  • Use troubleshooting steps provided by the manufacturer of your device.
Audio Detected This test checks to see if audio is available on your device. If your device fails:

  • Make sure your device has a speaker and/or headset connected (headphones, earphones, bluetooth, etc).
  • If the headset is connected, make sure it is fully plugged into your device, powered on (if applicable) and not muted.
  • If the problem continues, refer to your device manufacturer’s troubleshooting guide for help.
Microphone Detected This test checks to see if a microphone is available on your device. If your device fails:

  • Make sure your device has a microphone and/or one is connected
  • If the microphone is connected, make sure it is fully plugged into your device, powered on (if applicable) and not muted.
  • If the problem continues, refer to your device manufacturer’s troubleshooting guide for help.
